Broke it? Fix it!

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28

I remember as a little girl, my grandmother would save tin foil. After removing it from a stored dish in the refrigerator, she would carefully wipe it clean, fold it neatly, and set it in a kitchen drawer, ready to use next time.

As a child, I also remember my parents taking shoes which needed repair to the cobbler. When the heel began to wear, the cobbler would use his hammer to add a small piece to the heel to add more time to the shoe's life.

Another thing I recall which isn't as practiced today is sewing. When a clothing item would get a little tear, out would come the needle and thread; a necessary skill all members of the family were required to know.

A lot has changed over the years. Now, many people simply toss out a pair of pants when they are ripped, and today, you will be hard-pressed to find a cobbler, or even find young people who know what one is!

The response to something that was broke in yesteryear was to fix it. Today, we just throw it away and move on to something new.

Sadly, we treat our marriages the same way. Rather than heal and mend a relationship which may need repair, we are quick to reach for the divorce papers, and begin seeking spouse number two.

Likewise, there are also people who may have drifted away from God, or feel frustrated, alone, and overwhelmed with some issue that has affected their spiritual standing, causing them to turn their back on their salvation.

My dear friend, as the above Bible verse suggests, lay your problems in the hands of God, and you will find comfort.

When you are weak, God is willing and able to be your strength. When you are facing a dark tunnel, call out to God, and let Him light your way.

What is broke CAN be fixed.
