The Way that's a Person

The Buddha's, the Moons, the Prophets, the gurus-- who can keep it straight? Isn't there anything that makes one stand out? Or is it all up to the individual to decide what's true? And if truth is a decision, isn't it possible to decide wrongly? Like when you're not sure, but you decide to turn left and your destination lies right. You can say it's a personal decision all you want. But you're still in the wrong place aren't you? The fact is, there is something that makes One stand out.

Others say, "Go this way." He said, "I am the Way."

Some say, "Follow these steps to the truth." He said, "I am the Truth."

While one might say, "This is the secret of life." He said, "I am the Life."

He came to reconcile a chasm between God and His people, not just to "enlighten us" about one of many good paths to follow.

Think of it. If in fact God did come to earth as a Man to reconcile Himself to His rebellious people, then He cannot be compared to Buddha or other religious leaders. For if these are facts, these leaders are sinners themselves in need of a Savior, not to mention created beings, created by a Higher Authority.

So if you say Jesus is "included" in your list of religious leaders you admire, how can He respond? "Thanks a lot!" Though I can't imagine my Lord responding this way, what if He really is God? If He is (not was) God made flesh, it is an insult to compare Him to these others when He even went so far as to allow Himself to be tortured and killed for our sakes. If there's any chance that this is true, the consequences of regarding Him as just another wise teacher are so great, that you must be absolutely certain that He is not God to be willing to risk these consequences. Are you that certain? And are you sure enough that you've no need of Him as Savior to risk your eternity on it?
