Most Accessories Should Not Be Bigger Than Your Head

Have I ever told you about my ministry to the chronically over-accessorized? It's one of those "out of the depths of your own struggles" kind of ministries. I thought about starting a support group, but then I realized that we can't fit that many of us into a room at the same time. When the shiny-bauble-circumference to flesh-square-footage ratio is off, no onein the room can sit down.

I try to give myself good accessory reminders. Like: Most accessories should not be bigger than your HEAD. But it just so happens that remembering is not exactly my best thing.

Fortunately, remembering doesn't have to be my best thing, spiritually-speaking. Everything I urgently need to know, God promises he'll bring to mind. Jesus said, "The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will REMIND YOU of everything I have said to you" (John 14:26, emphasis mine). Everything I need to remember he'll give me by his Holy Spirit. It's all under control--his!

Now if only I could get control of some of those over-accessory reminders. I'm telling you, it's dangerous. I have earrings, for instance, that, with just the wrong wind gust, could totally put an eye out.
