The Church On The Corner - Message #324

Most communities have a lot of churches. At least there are a lot of church buildings. Some say there is a church on every corner. Why so many? For one thing, the church is important. It is the "temple of God" (1 Corinthians 3:16). It is "the church of God which He purchased with His blood" (Acts 20:28). The church is really a group of people rescued from addiction to life styles of evil by Jesus Christ. This body of people forms a "temple" in which the Spirit of God dwells. These people meet in that building located on the corner.

Now you ought to meet with these people. You ought to worship with them. In fact, you ought to join the church. The reason is simple. A long time ago, God promised the Savior, Jesus Christ, to these people. He said, "They shall call His name Immanuel," which translated means, "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23). You see, God dwells with His church. Jesus Christ walks among His people. The church, as God's people, really is a temple for the Holy Spirit. So if you meet with God's people, there is every likelihood you will meet with God.
