Stand Firm!

"Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:12-13

Sometimes in life we just have to do the right thing, even when it means that doing so will expose us to persecution, or cause us to lose friends.

Of course, it isn't always easy to stand up for what is right, but within my own life, I have found that with truth comes freedom. For example, have you ever been in a situation where someone you know keeps on purposely hurting you with little verbal jabs? Sure, you might take it for as long as you can, but when the time comes, doesn't it feel good to finally say what is on your mind, and to let the person know you will not tolerate that hurtful behavior anymore?

What happens though, when, while standing for truth and righteousness, those persecuting us refuse to see the error of their ways? Do we continue being a door mat, and allow them to jab us over and over again?

To know the answer to this, all we need do is re-read the above Bible verse which instructs us to continue in what we have learned and firmly believe, because our faith is not based within our own word, but Christ Jesus'. Our spiritual reward for standing firm will be great.

The above verse is directed to God's children; those who already believe and have studied His word. If you are not yet a believer, before you can stand for what is good and right, you must know what is God's word and will. The only way to do this is to first make a relationship with our Heavenly Father.

"Dear God, I have been trying my way for so long, and it just doesn't seem to be working out well. I am ready to try Your way, and to replace the darkness within my life, with light. I repent of my past sins, and I am ready to start anew. I invite you into my life to be my Lord and Savior. This I ask in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ. Amen."
