New Sanctuary

I have been a member of Mt. Bethel church for twenty-five years, but in 1998 God gave me a renewed awareness of a biblical truth.

It happened when we worshiped for the first time in our new sanctuary. It was an exquisite facility and it sparkled in splendor. It was spacious and elegant, a wonderful house of worship. However, it is the people who truly are the church. And people, our members, will determine how beautiful our church truly is.

In Ephesians 2:20 we learn that Christ is the cornerstone of the Church. With Christ as our foundation, biblical truths will prevail from the pulpit, in Bible study, casual conversation, and most importantly, as they are spoken through our actions and lifestyles.

Our members may have different ideas and plans of action, but that's the way of any household. Paul tells us that WE are the members of a unique household- God's household. When a person is a member of a household, he should contribute something to it, as well as receive from it. That is the reason God gave His children a variety of spiritual gifts, so that each would be able to give and take accordingly.

Truly the new sanctuary is special, exquisite and grand. It is a holy place, ready to house people in Marietta, Georgia, as we gather together as members of God's family to worship Him. It is the people, however, who are the church. They truly reflect the living temple of God as they leave the building and take Christ with them into their homes and workplaces.

I am thankful to be a member of Mt. Bethel, to give as I have been led, and to receive in overflowing abundance. It is my prayer that you, too, have a church home; a place of worship, sanctuary and fellowship. If you don't, why not ask God today to show you the perfect church in which to worship Him and participate in His activities? It is an important part in growing in your faith walk.
