Sacrificial Love

Did you ever read a story or see a movie that reminded you of something else that you had seen or read?

This is exactly what happened to me tonight. I went to the movie theater to see the new film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". Having read the book and also watched some of the previous film versions of this book (written by C.S. Lewis), I was a bit skeptical about this new movie that Disney had produced. Suffice it to say, I was impressed and loved it!

Not only is the new film in line with the story, but it also depicts a very familiar theme. While watching this film, I was reminded a number of times about the story of life itself; the story of the relationship between God and man. I was struck by the parallels that were made, and God gave me a superb revelation: God Himself sent Himself to die for us to appease His own judgement, all because He loves us and wants to know us.

Pretty deep thoughts. It means that because there is bad in this world, God could not be here with us for it. So, He sent Himself to earth to walk as a person and die as a person to rid us of the element of evil inherent in our souls. In so doing, He rid us of the judgement inevitable to us through Himself. In effect, He sacrificed Himself to save us from Himself. Thank you, God, for your love!
