Don't Miss Out!"It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way." Proverbs 19:2 Early this morning, the alarm started to blare at an absolutely ridiculous time. How could I have possibly set the alarm to go off that early? Oh yeah, I remember now, I wanted to get a jump on the day and get to the gym for an hour of exercise before heading to the office. But, not today! I defiantly hit the snooze button and claimed the precious minutes of extra time all to myself. But I knew it wouldn't last. Thirty minutes later, I woke up on my own; no need for the screaming clock this time. I was mad at myself for going back to sleep. After all, I would be late after all and not able to exercise as I had hoped. What a bummer! Or, as God would show me, what a blessing! As I gathered my stuff and headed for the car, I turned to see the birth of a new dawning sky before me. It was so beautiful that it stopped me in my tracks. The horizon was just beginning to unveil its warm corals and pinks, and it was spectacular. After a few minutes, the colorful canvas of gold, orange and fuchsia shone all around me, surrounding me 360 degrees. No matter which way I turned, I saw this brilliant sunrise being hand-painted by God. And to think I would have missed it all if I had gotten up when I planned, thirty minutes earlier. How about you? What have you "missed" lately? Has God been wanting to show you some brilliant sunrises of your own, but maybe you've been too busy to notice? Or, perhaps He wants you to do something special for someone and you've turned a deaf ear to Him. Think about the things you could do right now. You could: Send a card of encouragement to a friend that is hurting or alone. Lend a helping hand to someone that is going through a tough time. Bake some cookies and take them to the residents of a nursing home. Give your child a loving, warm hug or a very proud, uplifting kiss. Pray with someone who is down and out or who needs a shoulder to cry on. Take a few extra minutes to explore the beauty of the world around you. Spend more time with God in prayer and reading His Word. When you reach beyond yourself and allow God to show you the day He has planned for you, it truly is rewarding. So, don't miss out and be sure to follow God's lead. And, get ready to enjoy the bounty of blessings waiting just for you. It may even be tomorrow morning's sunrise!
