How Hot Is It?

I'm sorry, but I just have to whine. I mean, it has been some kind of hot the past few weeks! HOW HOT IS IT? I'm glad you asked! It's so hot that:

-We now have "hot and hot" running water.

-I can make sun tea without ever going outside.

-The seatbelt buckle touched my arm and branded me (someone complimented me on my groovy new tattoo).

-I realized for the first time that the church parking lot is actually LIQUID.

-I found myself trying to drive my car without touching the steering wheel.

-Our "brown and crunchy" lawn motif is catching on all over the neighborhood (we're okay with that as long as it's "catching on" without "catching on FIRE").

-The coals in our grill are ready- and we never lit them.

-I drove by a corn field yesterday and thought I heard popping.

Of course, I guess none of that is quite as bad as finding that the chickens are laying their eggs OVER-EASY. Now that's hot! But as whiny as I get when it's hot, I want to always stay totally "on fire" for Christ. 1 Peter 1:14-15 says, "Don't lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn't know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness." (The Message)
Blazing with holiness! The Christian life? When we're obediently following Jesus and letting the Lord shape our lives, it really cooks!
