Worry Warts Are Near Sighted - Message #378Not too long ago, I had my eyes checked and to my surprise, the doctor took away my trifocals. He gave me a pair of reading glasses. I no longer needed glasses for distance vision. I am far sighted. I need glasses to read. In life, most people are far too nearsighted. They are so consumed with things happening at the moment, that they lose sight of eternity. This is a major problem in our overly secularized world. We live for today. We give little thought to tomorrow. The worries and troubles of today overtake us. We have little time or inclination to think about eternal things. The words of Jesus Christ are important here. "Be on guard, that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day come on you suddenly like a trap" (Luke 21:34). We are distracted in so many ways from the major issue of life: where we will spend eternity. If we do not take care, we will never face the issue squarely until it is too late. Where will you spend eternity? Do you know? Now is the time to answer this all-important question.
