Hiding"Let the wicked abandon their way of life and the evil their way of thinking. Let them come back to God, who is merciful, come back to our God, who is lavish with forgiveness." Isaiah 55: 7 The homeowners tried their best. They planted shrubbery around the large, ugly metal telephone box which was in the corner of their yard. The shrubbery didn't do the job; the branches were loose, leaves were sparse, and the plan for hiding the box's ugliness was not effective. We each have some ugliness inside of us. It is called sin and it is what separates us from God. For years, some of us have tried to hide it. We may be successful for awhile, but sooner or later sin raises its ugly head and reveals itself. God has given us a way not to merely hide, but to completely obliterate that ugliness. We don't have to try and camouflage it with the leaves and branches of good works, church attendance, pious attitudes or religious facades. Rather, the way is simple, and the path made clear. In the Bible we are told to accept Jesus as or Lord and Savior, acknowledging Him as God's son. We received forgiveness of all the sins in our life, and God throws them into the sea of forgetfulness. We become His children and are accepted into His loving arms for our lifetimes here and beyond that into eternity with Him. If you are still trying to hide your sinful nature behind the leaves of life, now is the time to stop. God sees everything about us, and knows the stirrings of our heart. His desire is for us to be pure and holy, just as He is holy. He wants us to unite with Him forever, through Jesus Christ. For that very reason, He sent Jesus to this earth so many years ago. Thank you, Father, for this most wonderful offer you have laid before us!
