Lost: One ChildAn article in our local newspaper told the gut-wrenching story of a family who awakened one morning to find that their young daughter was missing. Days, then weeks passed, with no word or sign as to what had become of their beloved child. One can only imagine the pain and heartbreak such families of missing children endure. When we hear such stories, many of us say an immediate prayer that the lost child may be found healthy and safe. Sometimes this occurs, and when it does, we jump for joy because the lost child is back where he or she belongs. Have you ever thought that this is what God must feel when one of His children is similarly lost? Like any caring earthly parent, God is saddened when one of His little ones (you and me) have been lured away by the seducing ways of ungodly living. And, like that mom or dad who searches high and low for their missing one, so too does God never stop reaching out to us, and desiring our return back in to His loving embrace. He does this not so that He can condemn or punish us, but so that we can once again be back where we belong, safe and sound. No matter what you may have done to cause you to be 'lost,' God is ready, willing and able to joyfully welcome you back in to His family. If, rather, someone you know is in need of 'rescuing', won't you remind them that their heavenly Dad is awaiting?
