Being As a Sparrow"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow.and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not worth much more then they?" Matthew 6:26 When I was a child, I frequently brought home a bird with a broken wing, a stray dog, or just about anything that was living and was in pain and/or hungry. My parents were good about it and allowed me to take care of these animals, and even paid a veterinarian bill or two as a result of it. One of the saddest moments for me was when the bird would get up and fly away. It was usually quite unexpected and never a lot of fun in a child's view. What I know now, looking back, is that God was looking out for His creation through me, and that I should have been overjoyed. How often do you and I get tied up in the mindset of this world? I have to make more money, I need the bigger car, I must go on this expensive trip this year, etcetera. It is a daily struggle for me, working in the financial services industry, hearing day in and day out about people with no savings, no support other then a small pension. I must fight my inclination not to be one of them. What I must remember is that God takes pleasure in His creation. Psalms 16:3 says, "As for the saints in all the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom is ALL my delight." (emphasis mine) God delights in taking care of us. Allow yourself to be taken care of today, and in the future. Let God send people to you who can help you, minister to you, balance your bills, whatever it takes. God is a faithful provider. We must start believing in that. Seeing is not always believing. Feeling it faithfully is.
