Double Dipping"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" Matthew 7:11 When I was a child, my mother would put the rainbow ice cream sprinkles in a bowl. She would then pile our cones high with ice cream and my sister and I would go at it, licking and licking- till the first layer of sprinkles disappeared. Then we would dip into those sprinkles again, enjoying another round of sugary bits. Another example of culinary double dipping is twice dipping a chip in the dip; neither case a sanitary example, but tasty never the less. My husband even told me of how a car salesman can triple dip. He can (1) sell the car to an individual (2) set up the financing and (3) sell the buyer an extended warrantee. He will make money from each of these, therefore getting a triple portion of financial gain. I wonder what God would have us do with the things He offers us, such as truths in His Word, time spent with Him, gifts of the Holy Spirit, the beauty of this earth and the marvelofeternity in His Holy Presence. Would He want us to simply dip, double dip, triple dip or one hundred fold dip? Of course, we know He would want us to dip, dip and dip again into all of the wonder and majesty He lays before us. What an awesome God we have! Let's start dipping today!
