Consider Jesus (Message #253)What can we do to get people to consider the claims of the Bible and the claims of Christ? For one thing we can stop this nonsense that faith has no rational basis or proof. There is actually plenty of evidence that the Bible is an authentic and reliable book. There is also sufficient evidence that Jesus Christ is actually the Son of God who was raised from the dead. But we have this silly idea that the things of religion are not scientifically verifiable, soo we have tossed God out of the classroom. He is not someone or something we can deal with in our physical world. He is not someone we can actually wrestle with in our minds. He is in the great beyond. He is the wholly other God. All I've got to say is, "Hog wash!" We may not be able to see God directly with our eyes, but God is revealing Himself. Listen to what the Bible says about God, "Since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made" (Romans 1:20). The invisible God is revealed in and through creation. His power and divine nature are clearly seen and understood through His creation. "The heavens declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1). That's one great point. Here is a second point that cannot be missed: Jesus Christ was an historical figure. He lived and died in Palestine. There is absolutely no doubt about this. The historical records about His life and death can be verified. They would stand up in a court of law. They would also stand the test of rigid scientific inquiry. So people today must consider the God of the Bible. They must consider Jesus, the Son of God. Will you consider Jesus?
