Isaiah's Vision #177More than one preacher has justified his adultery as the will of God. Then there are those who pretend they have special powers. But someone back stage is talking to them through a sophisticated radio system. All they have is a little button, which is hardly noticeable in their ear. They call these radio messages revelations from God. There are some TV evangelists who have actually boasted about how they can manipulate the public. With all of this, why wouldn't people think Christianity is a big scam? But these people are not authentic prophets and preachers. They are "peddling the word of God" to make financial profit. The Bible pictures true prophets and preachers in quite a different light. For example, when Isaiah "saw the Lord sitting on a throne lofty and exalted," his first reaction was to fall on his face and cry, "Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips" (Isaiah 6:5). Isaiah saw his sin. He knew he could not stand before a holy God. But then Isaiah heard wonderful words, "Your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven" (Isaiah 6:6). People who come face to face with God realize the extent of the evil in their hearts. They know they are doomed. They know they need God's forgiveness. That forgiveness and cleansing from inner corruption renews and refreshes life. This is what we all need.
