Purpose-Driven Life
In John 4, Jesus arrived at Samaria after a long walk; tired, hungry, thirsty, initially rejected, and above all, grieved for the lost souls living in sin and self-righteousness. His request for drink was rejected by the woman of Samaria. Yet, He did not give up. Why? Because He knew very well that His food, His comfort, His peace, His purpose, His rest was to "do the will of Him [God the Father] who sent [Him], and to finish His work". Jesus' eyes were firmly focused on God the Father and no challenges or adversities could divert them away. And the outcome? "So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed for two days. And many more believed because of His own word" (John 4:40-41) Wow ... What a twist in the circumstances. That is our weapon too. Our lives are of magnificant purpose already set by the King of Kings. Despite the changes and adversities around us, our food, comfort, peace, purpose, hope, joy, and goal, is to do the will of our Heavenly Father on earth through our lives. It's our purpose to proclaim the name of Jesus in every breath we take and sing it along with every heartbeat. Let us welcome this merry season declaring "Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1-2)
