Follow Me

Matthew 4:19, Mark 1:17, Luke 5:27, Luke 9:59, Luke 18:22, John 1:43, John 21:19Karen's a really special lady. She had helped me with some problems, and in turn, I wanted to do something for her. She had very little in the way of material possessions, and I wanted to give her things, assuming she would like that.

It seemed that everything I gave her, she would give away. Whether it was a book, a tape, clothing, or money, Karen would give it away. Sometimes I would be annoyed that she would do that, rather than to keep and appreciate what I'd given her.

It took a long time before I realized that my giving things to her made it possible for HER to give gifts. Sometimes I'm a little slow to catch on.

There is great joy in giving. It just makes you feel good. With something to give, she, too could have the pleasure of gifting others.

I was wrong. I had judged her, and hadn't walked in her shoes. Seems like it is so easy to do; it's so easy to see only the view we have while walking in our own shoes.

I was thinking about this concept of "walking in someone's else's shoes". I thought about how the best ones to walk in would be Jesus' shoes. The Bible says that, as believers, we are new creations in Christ. Our mind is renewed as we "walk in His shoes" and follow Him.

That's good news.
