Balance Beam

I seldom think about trying my skill on the balance beam back in high school days, but with the Olympics in full gear, I have had visual reminders of this type of competition. Balancing on that piece of equipment was very difficult for me, as it takes great concentration, skill and endless hours of practice in order to do this well. I love watching the gymnasts segment of the Olympic games. The Olympic athletes amaze me with their grace and beauty as they move about the balance beam, performing difficult maneuvers.

Life also holds many challenges when it comes to balance.Trying to keep our priorities and demands of life in balance is wearisome and difficult. How does one manage to keep the roles of spouse, parent, employee, community enthusiast and a follower of Jesus Christ all in balance? God has told us in His Word that there is a pecking order for priorities. First, we should love Him with all of our beings. Secondly, we are to love others as ourselves. Sounds easy enough; just two sentences, but in the reality of life, it is not so easy. We must ask God to help us in this endeavor, and He will, just as He has kept us on His own balance beam of mercy, grace, truth, righteousness, faith and redemption, giving us all we need for the ABUNDANT life in Him!
