Faithful Leader

A remarkable Girl Scout retreat I attended, when I was 12, was by the beach. One sunny day, our leader approved for us to swim, after deciding the sea looked very calm. All of us 12-year-olds merrily plunged into the sea along with our leader; playing, swimming and teasing each other. Suddenly, there came a huge wave that rolled us all over each other, including our leader - to the bottom of the sea. We could not catch our breath when another huge wave followed. Every wave had super-magnetic power, pulling us into the deep. We struggled to make our way out, and we all did it safely.

Life is like the sea; sometimes wonderful and calm; sometimes agitated. The key is, who is our leader; the one to tell us when to step in and when to stand still? Is He a leader who judges by appearance and limited physical senses? Are the criteria career, relationship, self, money, fame, pleasures? Friends, all these leaders are from the world ("And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever." 1 John 2:17). They are deceiving. as the world is, and as the sea was during the retreat. When the world goes away as per God's word, all these leaders will be tumbled along with it.

There is only one Faithful Mighty Leader who treaded the waters of the agitated sea and ordered them to calm, to which the waters instantly obeyed. That leader is Jesus Christ. Not only is He the faithful leader, but he is our victorious Savior as well ("You [God] have put all things in subjection under His [Jesus'] feet... He [God] left nothing that is not put under him [Jesus]. Hebrews 2:8) Jesus himself affirmed, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." Matthew 28:18 (Oh... how I love that promise!)

Our Faithful Leader, Jesus Christ, willingly, has sacrificed His life for one sole reason: to seal God's fatherhood to us with His Blood. Through Jesus' Blood, live everyday victoriously, assured that you are the son/daughter of the King, are led through life by the most omnipotent Leader, Jesus Christ, and comforted by the Holy Spirit. Declare your faith that nothing dares to go out of the control of your Father.
