Valuable
"Gray hair is a mark of distinction, the award for a God-loyal life." Proverbs 16:31
As my mother-in-law gets older, now in her 80's, her body is wearing down.It is difficult for those of us who love her to see her vision fade, hearing diminish, bones break and arthritis to cripple her. She is not able to function as she once was, and the physical disabilities are disheartening. Although her body is losing its USE, it has not, nor will it ever, lose its VALUE. It is valuable, not because of its function, but because of its maker- God Almighty. She was, is, and always will be a child of God, and therefore, most precious. Her mind is alert, and her spirit is sound. Her prayer life is active, and she has the remarkable ability to never give up. She has endured countless hospitalizations, moving from a home, to an apartment, to independent living for older adults, to assisted living; but she doesn't complain. She doesn't look back, and doesn't predict the future. She takes each day for what it is: an opportunity to serve the Lord by praying for others and doing what she is able to do for them. She is an inspiration for me, and I thank God for her.
If you have aging parents, take time to look at them as most valuable commodities: as children of God. They will never lose their value in this respect.
