The Gospel and Our Sins #368Imagine God's chagrin. He views the earth He made and the people He loved... It's party, party, party; it's partying with vulgar trysts and twists. There are drugs and alcohol. There is wife swapping and a multiplicity of orgies. There are anonymous homosexual encounters with hundreds and sometimes thousands of partners. It is all wholly unnatural, contrary to God's order and very repulsive. In the midst of all of this, intellectuals are justifying perversity and actually convincing people it is normal behavior. "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart" (Genesis 6:5-6). It was then God sent the flood to destroy the earth. Only Noah and his family survived. Some might say the description of the earth just given looks like today. Jesus Christ predicted this would be the case. "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah" (Matthew 24:37). That is, when Christ comes a second time, it will be for judgment. He came the first time for salvation. He came to save men and women, young people and children, from the fate of people during Noah's time. This is the good news. Because Jesus Christ faced judgment when He died, because He did this in the place of others, because He was perfect and because He was totally undeserving of death, His suffering of judgment and doom releases those who trust in Him from the shadow of being judged. The undeserving One, Jesus Christ, suffered to set the deserving ones free.
