Crystal Ball

"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you." Deuteronomy 31:8
My neighbor has a silvery-blue ball in a flower bed. It is supposed to attract butterflies.A lovely thing. It reminds me, however, of a crystal ball, like those associated with psychics and fortune telling. Not a good thing.

Psychics seem to advertise a lot on TV. I've read that viewers spend a lot of money calling the 900 numbers to get a so-called psychic to tell them something specific regarding their future.

Ever wonder why people are so interested in the future? We know the past, but we're interested in what we do not know. The future.

I know a few things the future holds. More "stuff", the ordinary ups and downs, good as well as yucky events in life. Also, surprises! Definitely there will be some unexpected circumstances. As the saying goes, "Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans." I know, too, that God is there. One of the names for God, in the Bible, is Jehovah Shammah, meaning "The Lord is there".

It's true, we can't go anywhere that God's not already there. For certain this is the most important thing about our unknown future! And we don't need a crystal ball to tell us that.
