Our Creation, Preservation, and All the Blessings of This LifeNow, think about them for a moment: "We thank thee for our creation, preservation, andI cannot remember when I last thanked God for creating me; or for preserving me; or, for that matter, for all the blessings of this life ñ maybe for one blessing here and there, but for all the blessings? No. Why is that? Maybe it's because I have somehow forgotten how I was created, and I think my parents did it, or that I just happened. Maybe it's because I have forgotten that it is he who preserves my life, and not I at all, and that without his grace and mercy and enabling power, I would die this very moment. Maybe it's because I have forgotten all the ways he has blessed me in the entire course of my life, and only remember a few of the most recent blessings. In any case, that is the way I all too often act. And perhaps it follows as a direct result of my having forgotten these very important things, or at least because they have dimmed in my memory to the point that I no longer think about them, that I am not a more thankful person than I am. And perhaps that is the reason that I am not a happier and more joyful person than I am, and more filled with excitement and vibrant life. I mean, if I know these things and believe them in my heart, and if I keep reviewing them so that they are in the forefront of my thinking, how can I ever be discouraged, afraid, worried, or bored? There is no way! Indeed, I will be so filled with thanksgiving that these words will be forever written in my heart: "We thank thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life."
