Marriage of Bride and Groom
Think of the wedding ceremony. A commitment and pledge of love, honor and obedience is established, not reluctantly, mind you, but with every fiber of their being, bride and groom long for the bond that joins them together. And, the rings; a circle which has no beginning or end, just as God's love for His children always was, and always will be. We go to the reception after; a celebration of a new life, no longer as one, but two joined as one. That is the nature of God's love. That is how completely He gives Himself to us. We celebrate with friends and family; dancing and feasting, for many of them already know how good love of bride and groom can be. Later, the new couple feeds each other cake, the sentiment being that this is the sweet foundation of our life together. A relationship built on love, commitment, honor and obedience. Never will I leave you or forsake you. The cake is not intended for each individual to feed to himself, but tenderly and loving, one feeds the other; a reminder that I will care for you always. After the festivities, the new couple stands at the threshold of their home. As is often custom in America, the strong groom lifts his bride, cradling her in his arms, and tenderly crosses the threshold of a new life together. The above verse may seem to be solely about earthly marriage, but its intent is to teach about God's great love for us. Those people who seek Him, and call upon Him, are never denied, but are quenched with the most satisfying love. It is indeed, a relationship and a marriage, for we are raised up to a new family of brothers and sisters in Christ, and the Son of God is our new life partner. We are then as royalty for we share the love and blood of Christ, which He shed for all men so that we may have life. His Father; OUR Father, God, is part of this same union between Believer and Creator, and there is no where else in this world we can know such love. Celebrate love today by inviting the ultimate bridegroom in to your life!
