Brokenhearted?

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit." -Psalm 34:18Sometimes, when things are going good in our life we forget about God.There are things to do, places to go, people to meet, and there is certainly not time to commune with the Creator. However, when life's circumstances suddenly fall off kilter, and we find ourselves lost, confused, depressed, and feeling like there is nowhere else to turn, who do we tend to remember? God.

In times of heartbreak and turmoil, man often cries out to the Lord. When tragedy strikes, the phrase many people exclaim is, "Oh! My God!" And, when death looms near, man's natural inclination is often to fall on his knees and pray.

Why do often wait until the most dire of situations before we call upon our loving heavenly Father? God is not a God of sorrow and despair, but of peace, hope and joy! Certainly, He can handle the bumps along our path, but what about inviting Him to join us on our entire journey? As the above Bible verse conveys, yes, God is there to rescue the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, but let us not forget that, like a faithful friend and caring father, God wishes to walk by our side always, not just in times of despair.
