THE PERFECT ADVENTURE

Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived in an old abandoned cave. The cave was located on an island called Grace. The old man had been on the island since as far back as he could remember. He was very self-sufficient, as he would gather fruits and berries for his daily food.

One day as he was in the wilderness gathering some food, he discovered a small wooden box barely covered by a pile of leaves. By the looks of it, the elements had caused the wood to start to fade.

The old man thought to himself, "Hmm... I wonder where this came from." He wasn't aware that anyone else had ever been on the island. He brushed the leaves away and picked up the small box. He held it to his ear and shook it. There was something in it. The old man cautiously raised the latch on the box and eased the box open. There was a large gold piece in the box, surrounded by shredded pieces of newspaper. The man took the gold piece out of the box and looked at it more closely. There was a figure of a man carved into the gold. The figure had his arms stretched out and there were children at his feet. The man turned the gold piece over, and it was engraved with the words, "The Way, The Truth, and The Life." "What a beautiful gold piece!" the old man thought to himself. He placed the piece back in the box and smiled. A warmness came over him. He thought to himself, "For all these years, I have been on this island, gathering my food and taking care of myself. I have never seen anyone else here nor had I known whether anyone else had ever been here. I have been living on Grace all these years, and today, I discovered precious gold!"
