Greatest Story

What a great story. It has all the essential elements for of an epic tale, the young defenseless child at the mercy of the king, good verses evil in an against-all-odds battle.A mystic being transported to earth from another plane of existence on a world saving mission to engage the very embodiment of evil that rules a world and set the people free. A hero who seemingly has no special skills calling a people to Him, armed only with the Truth.

What a story line for the likes of JJR Tolkein or CS Lewis, but the truth is that this Great Story is the truth that fueled the minds of those great authors. The Great Story is truly great because it is the Truth, the Greatest Story ever told. The tale of a heavenly being who cast off his cloak of immortality to allow himself to come to a small backwater town in a nondescript part the world a long time ago. And accomplish the greatest mission ever conceived, let alone undertaken - he changed the world forever.

It has its roots in the cloudy world of pre-history but really begins at the dawn of time itself. In the beginning - is the real beginning- because the Unmovable Mover chose to gather the idea of the cosmos into Himself and then breathe it into existence.

A creation with a reason - an existence with a purpose - a beginning that started a chain of events that leads to an end - an end that has been foreseen.

For God so loved the world that he gave up his only son so people would believe in him and live. John 3:16 loosely translated.

Think about it for a moment, just stop reading and close your eyes and picture a being that is pure love - and what He would do. The story cannot be made up, no mind possesses the capacity to hold and have such unconditional love-except the one who created it all. Created it all for the likes of you and me.

We were not created to die, but to live forever and become more like Jesus the Christ, the Son of God - being adopted into the family of God- then we can live forever with Him.

Does it sound far too fantastic to be true? Unlike the great stories of Tolkien or Lewis this tale CAN be proven to be true. There is a great line in the Bible that says if you are truly looking you will find it - truly knocking on the door it will be opened to you - and if you truly ask for it, you will have it granted to you. That sounds like not only a promise but also something that can actually be done.

Speaking as someone who did look and knock and ask and as someone who found the truth he asked for-I am proof that the promise is indeed true.

Wait a moment you may say-there has to be a catch?

Not a catch only a condition to be met - you must be truly searching-no lip service here for this is far too big for halfway, all the way or nothing.

There is a Creator of the universe who spoke existence into being and then made man (and woman) in His image. He gave us the double-edged gift of free will and he loves us unconditionally. So much so that he will not force himself on us - we can choose to believe and accept and live for and with him - or we can choose- of out own free will- to turn our backs on him forever. And he will honor our choice even though it breaks his heart, even though he sent his son to redeem us with his life.

The choice is yours-but I plead with you to not take this thing lightly for your very soul hangs in the balance. Will you accept the promise and truly ask, seek and find?

If so this is what you need to do - First, be honest, tell him that you are not really sure he and his son Jesus exist at all-but you are willing to ask for proof and in return you will live for him the rest of your life. Ask him to come into your heart as Lord and Savior. Tell Jesus the Christ you do not have all the answers and if He does- you will follow him. Ask him to help with your life, ask him to give you peace and to send others to help you learn more. Tell him you can't do it alone, you don't know how, tell him of your desire to truly know Him, and he will respond to you. Level with him-tell him you are imperfect and you want a clean slate, to be able to start over again in him. He made you and all you can conceive, just as he made you to be with Him. Tell him your life needs him as Savior and Lord and you are ready to accept him as these things - and he will save you.

Honestly open your heart to Jesus and ask him into your life and he will come. He said he would.
