He Knows

"O Lord, you have searched me and you know me...You arefamiliar with all my ways."- Psalm 139:1, 3 (NIV)Rarely do we sin openly. When an ungodly thoughtor deed is committed, it is usually done in secret.Wemay repeat gossip or tell untruths thinking no one willknow, and we may deceive our spouse about ourwhereabouts. Evil, when it exists, lurks in the shadowsand hides in the safety of darkness. Evil does notwelcome light and truth for these things expose sin forwhat it is. Instead, we hide our wrongdoings, thinkingthat if we don't talk or think about them, they will goaway. Sadly, they do not, and our weaknesses find usagain and again.

What makes us strong is ourdependence on God. This may sound ironic since ourmodern society teaches that independence is power, butin spiritual matters, leaning on God rather than ourown devices allows God to keep us in His mercifulgrasp. In other words, the best defense in our momentsof weakness is to immediately call out to God for wherewe might be weak, God can be our strength.

It is impossible to hide the reality of our sins fromGod for our Heavenly Father IS truth. God sees throughthe darkness of sin for He IS light. We may run fromGod, but our sins always find us out.

Today, rather than hide from the wrongdoings of ourlives, why not consider having a good heart to hearttalk with your Creator? God knows our struggles, unmetneeds and desires, and He seeks nothing more than tolight our way to righteousness.
