Laborers' Prayer
Help us to be proud of our labor without becoming prideful. Teach us that working with our hands is good, and not to be ashamed of- as you yourself first took up the dirt in your hands and shaped us into your image. Help us to see that in the simple act of labor we may be blessed and never let us loose sight of the fact that we should also bless others with the time and talents you have given us. For in serving others, especially those less fortunate - the sick, the poor and the brokenhearted we have the opportunity to also serve you. Help us to work contentedly and to be industrious if for no other reason than the fact that your word tells us to. Bless those who are above us, and give them wisdom to perform their jobs effectively. Let us, by humbly doing those things that need to be done at work without complaint, to draw others to your light and salvation. Help us to show our children how to be good providers by our actions and deeds and not to disdain honest work. Help us in our own way to add to the blessings and worth of this Great Nation- the most productive nation on the face of the earth- and let us be a blessing to those for whom we work - because you are in control and in your great wisdom, you have placed us here. In the name of Jesus Christ whose very life was the fulfillment of the greatest work ever achieved, Amen.
