Networking and Name-Dropping

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.       John 14:13"Networking" and "name-dropping" were buzzwords in the nineties. When I began attending workshops for songwriters, I learned early on how to network.  As soon as I met with one person, I could use his/her name to get a meeting lined up with the next person.  When I was writing, I had a friend who was well known as an author. Using her name at a conference opened all kinds of doors for me to talk to high powered people at the corporation.

We have each probably encountered someone who is a proverbial name dropper.  He happens to mention the account he landed, and the persons or companies connected to it. She can’t resist telling you the brand name sweater she’s wearing; maybe initials are boldly advertised on her purse.  At one time or another I have been guilty of all the above.

There is a name we can drop into our conversations with God anytime.  He’s not impressed, but  talk about getting you everywhere.  Jesus said to ask for anything in prayer, using His name.  In turn, Jesus mentions our names to the Father...

This kind of networking and name dropping is not only OK, it has been designed by God for our benefit, and His glory. The power in the name of Jesus is awesome.  It is the name above all names.
