Worth Fighting ForJust as there are times to laugh, and other times tocry, so too are there circumstances in life when wemust decide if something is important enough to fightfor. Right off the bat, I can think of one greatreason; my children. Just as a gentle mother bear willturn instantly aggressive if a stranger threatens toharm her cubs, so too is it sometimes necessary for aparent to protect his or her own children. Like anold-time movie, my mind momentarily reflects back whenneighborhood bullies were harassing my then, five yearold daughter. Boys may be boys, but threaten to do harmto my kid, and you'll find your self being chased downthe street by one scowling mom! Marriage is another medium I am willing to work andfight for. Talk to couples who have been married fortwenty to fifty years, and they will attest to the factlong-lasting good marriages are not continual dailybliss, but are exactly as our wedding vows state,"through sickness and in health, good times and bad." If we run at the slightest wind of change, and don'tfight for love when it is challenged and pushed to itslimits, then love is not as durable as we are told itis. Thankfully, it is! Within our own historical roots, we, American's, havealso had to fight for our freedom, and to defend ourgreat nation. No one prefers to engage in battle, butif we realistically consider the alternative, sometimes, strong statements need to be made. I am willing to fight for my hopes and my dreams sothat I can turn visions in to realities. I am willingto defend my beliefs, and fight for what I believe istruth and justice. If there is anything I can teach my children, it is tonot be afraid to stand up for what is important. Bewilling to have a little mud slung your way when youdo, and if you get a little dirt under your nails, sowhat? And, if you need inspiration, just look to ChristJesus who endured mockery, betrayal, suffering, even, death, in order to bring to you and I the greatest giftknown to man; from love sprung the gift of eternallife. Better to be dirty... than dead.
