Ready for Seed

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O GodLast spring my daughter and her husband bought a new home. Actually, it was 10 years old,and they wanted to do some renovating. They consulted with an expert who told them to start with the front yard. He said the land would have to be prepared for the seed before any sowing could begin. Professionals were hired who removed an unwanted tree by the roots and several bushes by cutting them at their base. The ground was tilled, rocks discarded and water lines installed. They thought all was set to go, but no.

Others had to be hired to remove the existing roots of the bushes. They were sawed in several pieces, and then yanked out. The clean up committee had to go deeper than the surface to prepare the earth properly. Finally, the land was prepared, and the seed sown. The results were evident in a short period of time‚ lovely green grass in an area which was once full of roots and rocks.

Confession is necessary for our souls. God's love seeds will grow better when the soil of our hearts is cleared. It may be a rock of envy or greed, or a tree of discontent, guilt or selfishness. Possibly the roots of bitterness go so deep, and it takes a heavenly saw to cut and remove them from your heart. But it can and will be done when you confess your sins. Let's not have any obstacles in the way for all the Lord has for us. Confess, and invite God to plant His seeds of love in your heart today. The fruit of the seeds will rise above the surface, declaring to all the wonder and glory of the Lord.
