Your Body and God's Word#151
Medicine is big business. We spend millions on our bodies; millions spent on doctors, in hospitals, and for medicine.After all, when we deal with our bodies, we are dealing with an ultimate. Isn't that right? So why isn't God interested in these physical bodies of ours? Oh, but He is! I know people who have been healed by God. Why, I know a young lady whom God healed of cancer. But why doesn't God heal everyone? I can't answer that question. But I know what it means when God does grant healing! When God heals someone of a dread disease, or of a not so dread disease, He is talking to you and me! He is saying, "Look, the real problems in your world today stem from sin, the fact that you live in a fallen, sinful, world." In the beginning, God told Adam, "From the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die" (Genesis 2:17). And the Bible goes on to say, "Through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men" (Romans 5:12). You see, death came into our world because of sin! And the various forms of disease we experience are simply forerunners of death. So when God does heal someone from a particular illness, He is telling us that He is the only cure for sin. Not only so, He is giving us a taste of heaven, where "there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain" (Revelation 21:4). Yes, God is concerned about these physical bodies of ours. And those who trust in Christ for salvation from sin will one day be totally healed of every physical problem. That's what heaven will be like!
