Perfect Example

Psalm 1:2,3 When you do what the Lord wants, you are like a tree planted along the riverbank , bearing fruit each season without fail. Your leaves never wither, and in all you do, you prosperWe recently had the most magnificent weather in Novi, Mich.Cool temperatures and light breezes allowed me to enjoy my daily walk at any time, not just early morning. One afternoon I saw a perfect example of a scripture verses Ithink of often . The grass leading to the motel was beautiful – green, plush and thick. The appearance of it was just an invitation to come; sit; dwell awhile ! Immediately beside it was a patch of grass facing the street. Dry, brittle and downright ugly - those were my thoughts about it. Of course one area was well watered by a sprinkler system, the other had received no moisture for quite a long time, as a drought persisted.

The Bible verse speaks of a well watered tree. When the roots have received the water they require, the branches thrive. Like wise for grass- well watered roots makes for lush, green blades of grass. Comparing the two areas showed how completely opposite they were. One was enticing, and one was repelling.

God calls us to be His children, and as such, we need to have well watered roots. We must sink them deep into spiritual truths, and there is a method by which to do this. Staying in God’s Word, reading and mediating His Truths, praying with Him ,and being in fellowship with a community of believers will water our spiritual life. We must not become dry, brittle and unappealing, but it can happen if we omit the spiritual watering process in our lives. Let’s stay green, plush and inviting to others….for then they may desire to dwell with us in an appealing and comfortable place.
