John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.As I walked along San Destin Beach, I enjoyed watching kites being flown. The afternoon breeze was brisk, and the variety of colors and shapes up in the air was a sight to behold. One of the kites was let loose, and I watched as it floated up and away in the air currents. All of a sudden it dipped and fell.. plummeting toward the ocean. Before long the kite was out of sight.

You know, we are like that kite. God wants to hold onto us and guide our lives. Sometimes, however, we get out of His grip. He watches as we float away, just as the child who lost her kite today, deeply saddened. We may float the breezy clouds of lightheartedness for awhile, flowing in the current of life. Eventually, however, without a lifeline to God, we may fall and plummet to depths which sadden the heart of God. The good news is, God’s lifeline is never really severed from us. He sent His son, Jesus, to be that life line. Through Him, we are connected to God for eternity, standing forgiven and right in His sight.

The next time you see a kite, think of God, you, and the remarkable life line between you..Jesus Christ, God’s son. How blessed we are !
