Procrastinating
I'm sure this happens to all of us at one time or another, but what about procrastinating in the long-term sense? Here's an example. For the past year, I've been atypically lax in my regular exercise routine. I used to hit the gym just about every day, even adding regular daily walks in the evenings with my dog, but I've strayed so far from my original intent of keeping firm and fit, that I, admittedly, have gained a few pounds. I am very displeased over this, and lately, I've been promising myself I will begin this day anew, but by time I rest my head on my pillow at night, I am again disappointed I did not live up to my goal. What about you? Do you ever promise yourself that tomorrow will be a better day, yet when tomorrow comes, nothing changes? Before long, a day turns in to a week, and a week turns in to a month, and months turn in to a year! The sad part is, what happens when a year turns in to a lifetime? This Daily Wisdom is not just about putting off chores and errands, but about procrastinating with our spirituality. Whether you are already a person of faith who has fallen in to a path of ungodliness, or a seeking individual who has kept running away from a relationship with God, time always eventually catches up to us. We may procrastinate regarding our salvation, but the consequences for doing so will be devastating.
