The Cruise

Psalm 84:11 - He gives us His grace and glory. The woman of meager means couldn’t believe her good fortune! She had been the lucky winner of the drawing! A trip- a free trip- on a ocean liner luxury ship. She was ecstatic, to say the least! She made arrangements for someone to look after her cat and tend the mail . Next she faced her employer with a plea for some vacation time. It was granted to her. The process of packing was a simple procedure, for the array of clothes in her closet was sparse. She had no knowledge that frequent and sumptuous meals were offered free of charge on the voyage, so she decided to pack some food for the trip. Into the duffel bag, along with her clothes, went some cans of meat, crackers ,and a few bags of dried fruit. Each day at mealtime she sat in her stateroom, eating her meager meal. It was nourishing enough, but not very extravagant or delightful. Her trip was nice, but she never knew what she had missed.

We have all been invited on the cruise ship of the Kingdom of God. An amazing table has been prepared for us by God Himself. It is the table of grace. He has offered us , on this special table, His free and unmerited favor. In Psalm 84:11 we are told "He gives us His grace and glory." Yes, the offering is there… but we must go to the table and partake of it! Also, in Hebrews 4:16 we learn," we will find grace to help us when we need it." What a wonderfully rich scripture for us to ingest!

And as we receive, so shall we give. The gift of grace should be extended from us to others around us. Share your free and unmerited favor, giving to those God places in your path. If you feel you just can’t do it on your own, ask God to remind you of Hebrews 4:16, and you will be surprised and delighted in the manner you can share our Heavenly Father’s gift of grace.Truly, as the old hymn says, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, to save a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see." Praise God.
