But there is something else just as inevitable as death and taxes. The Bible puts it this way, "It is appointed for man to die once and after this comes judgment" Hebrews 9:27.

Yes, physical death comes just once to every person. The Bible knows nothing of reincarnation. There will be no second or third or fourth life in this world. Why? Because death is followed by judgment. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body according to what he has done whether good or bad” 2 Corinthians 5:10. You see, you will be judged according to what you have done in and with your life. The standard of judgment will be the righteousness and holiness of God. If your life has not measured up to the high standard of God’s holiness, strict judgment will be pronounced against you and the fact is no human being has ever met God’s standard for holiness. “All have sinned” Romans 3:23. As a result, although they laugh it off, a lot of people fear judgment. But if you embrace the love of God, if you trust in Jesus Christ as the only adequate payment for your sins, you need not fear judgment to come. In fact, the Bible says, “You may have confidence in the day of judgment” 1 John 4:17.How about you? Do you recognize your lack of holiness? Have you trusted in Jesus Christ? Do have confidence as you face judgment?
