Bank Deposit

Luke 12:34 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."Our bank has changed names three time, but the account didn't, nor did the building. The other day, when I made a deposit, I had a good feeling knowing I was putting our money in a "safe place." We also have a safety deposit box there, with important papers, jewelry, car titles and other earthly treasures.

God tells us in the Bible to "lay up our treasures in heaven." The currency of heaven is FAITH and we should pray for miracles and live our lives with this currency of heaven. I don't make a deposit in our bank that often, but we can each make one in the bank of heaven every day of our lives.

There are people we need help every day, lonely, frustrated, hurting people. There are emotional, physical and spiritual needs to be met. You can give of your personal love, help and concern to those whom God places in your path of life. Even a meal prepared for someone may brighten their day by your caring. Jesus says in Matthew 25:35-40, "When we feed, show hospitality, clothe, care for the sick and visit those in prison (possibly physical or emotional), we are doing it unto Him". How wonderful to remember this, when an unpleasant or distasteful encounter awaits us.

When we care for those in need, we are bringing the heart of God to them in their difficult time. When we do this, honoring the Lord, something goes into our heavenly account. Jesus gave us example after example in the Bible he always moved in the area of human need. He ministered both to spiritual needs as well a physical ones, showing kindness and giving a listening ear. This issue is addressed in the old testament also, although mentioned under the title of fasting. Isaiah 57:6,7 "Give instructions from the Lord", and then 8, 9 "Give a most wonderful promise". Listen to what it says, "Free those who are wrongly imprisoned and don't oppress those who work for you treat them fairly and give them what they earn. Share your food with the hungry, welcome the wanderers into your home, and give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. If you do these things, your salvation will come like the dawn. Your healing will come quickly and your Godliness will lead you forward. And the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer, "Yes, I am here", He will quickly reply.

This is the way to deposit currency in the most important bank of all, one with singular ownership and location the Bank of Heaven.
