Who Will be Saved? #153

How are we saved? What kind of a question is that? From what must I be saved?Well, Jesus is the Savior. And we need to be saved from our sins. The Bible says, "You shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).

"The Bible also tells us something else quite important. "Whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God" (James 4:4). You see the world is not just this physical planet upon which we live. The world amounts to all of the lust and greed and hatred that is contrary to God. When you love the world you are consumed with lust and greed and envy! You live in sin.

So to be saved involves being taken out of the world. You are taken out of a life filled with lust and jealousy and violence! You are taken out of a life filled with sins like adultery, drunkenness and lying. Those who are saved can say, "He delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son" (Colossians 1:13).

How are you saved? God places you in Christ's Kingdom. You confess Jesus Christ as your Lord. And you determine to follow Christ rather than the world!
