Terrifying Yet Comforting #123Walk through a cemetery. Youll see the graves of many people who passed from this life without trusting in the salvation of Jesus Christ. The final judgment will tell all. "If anyones name was not written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15). Think of it. Not everyone enters heaven. Many people reject God and His salvation. Most of them dont realize the perilous road they are traveling. The pleasures of sin and evil seem a good thing for now. The pleasure will not last forever. "It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Hebrews 10:31). Heres the other side. To avoid judgment and look forward to the bliss of heaven is wonderful comfort. We do not receive this promise of comfort because we are special. We must trust in Christs sacrifice on the cross to cover our moral faults and ethical misconduct. We must ask for and receive Gods forgiveness.
