Godly UnderstandingI wish I had some deeply intellectual and rational answer, but the truth of the matter is, no man does. Sometimes, despite our most fervent efforts to eat healthy and exercise, ill health still befalls us, and regardless of how safe a driver we may be, in the blink of an eye, a traffic accident can send us to the hospital. If you want to take a short trip to the loony bin, then try to understand why innocent children can be abducted from the safety of their own yards, why great men in leadership may be assassinated, and why seemingly decent people do stupid things like steal, hate, commit adultery, lie, and dishonor their parents. The older I get, and hopefully, the wiser, the less I try to understand why. Sure, we can speculate and hypothesize, but when all is said and done, only God truly knows what exists in the hearts and minds of men. I try to do the best I can do in all things, and then I let the pieces fall where they may under the ever-watchful eye of the Lord. That is really all we CAN do. We cannot control the minds and actions of others, nor can we turn back the hands of time. It certainly seems we cannot control much in our life, doesn't it? Ah, nothing could be farther from the truth! While we may not be able to control others, we CAN learn to better keep reigns on our own actions. We can also undo great heartbreaks by forgiving those who seek forgiveness, and for releasing our own hatred when justice does not seem to prevail. While we may not be able to undo sinful actions that have already past, we can control the words that leave our mouth in the present, as well as vow to keep our own ever-mindful eye on the future. No, we cannot understand all things, nor can we rewind the great hands of time, but with a little bit of godly understanding, life can indeed be sweeter.
