Blacker than Pitch
Recently I experienced a frightening "blacker than black" experience. The house I was visiting was ablaze with light, every lamp light and each overhead light shining, I had no trouble finding my way around, for I used my eyes as my guide. Then, suddenly, the electricity went out. I literally could not see my hand in front of my face. It was a blacker than pitch place, alright! I bumped into a door and stubbed my foot on an object on the floor as I groped my way down the hall to join the others. Just then my sister arrived with flashlights glowing. Being in the dark was not a place I wanted to be and I gladly accepted one of the lights from her. As we live our lives, sometimes we get caught in a very dark place. We may not be able to see our way clear of emotional problems, family crises, finical woes, health issues or substance abuse. Our lives may have traveled from light - to gray - to dark - then to darker than pitch without us being fully aware of the transition, or, we may plunge directly from light to darkness. Either way, being in the dark is not a good place to be. It is not where God intended for us to abide. He is the one who is ready to rescue us with the flashlight of light and adoration, and He extends it to us with unconditional love. We must allow God to open our spiritual eyes so that we will not continue to stub our toes and run into obstacles - take the flashlight He offers you today. It is available just for the asking.
