Resurrection Hope #244

Was Jesus Christ actually God? He claimed to be and He proved it. How?First, He predicted His resurrection. That's right. He claimed He would rise again from the dead. As Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth (Matthew 12:40). He also said, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. He was speaking of the temple of His body (John 2:19 and 21).

Then, after He was crucified and buried, Christ did rise again. Fantasy? Not at all. There were many eyewitnesses. He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time (1 Corinthians 15:56). Not only so, these eyewitnesses were dramatically changed. After Christ was crucified, they hid. They locked themselves in an upper room. When Christ appeared to them, they boldly proclaimed the resurrection.

The Christian hope of eternal life is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. As the apostle Paul said, If there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain (1 Corinthians 15:1314).
