The Collectors, Part 2

Editor's note: Today's DW is a continuation of The Collectors from yesterday. If you missed Part One, you can find it here:http://www.DailyWisdom.com/2001/12/24/

"We're going to catch something?" she repeats.

The three zoom through their tunnel and up into the air. They travel across the stratosphere, across galaxies and stars, through nebulas and racing comets back, back, back. Deep into the blackness beyond everything, they fly. Nothing can go faster than the speed of light, according to Einstein's theory, and they don't, but they gobble up space in an instant by pulling space which is made of fabric toward them, passing over it, then expanding it behind them, propelling them forward in a snap. They fly at warp speed. The speed of the future.

Their plane of travel comes to a halt. The two males smile at the little female, "Listen."

The female opens her eyes wide. They are standing utter blackness.

"Hold the bottle out," the bag holder points. "Do it now, hurry."

"Face the opening toward the center of the space," the bookkeeper looks into the blackness.

"Now, push the blue button," the bag holder lifts the recorder up.

The female places her finger on the blue button.

A small spot of light starts to glow in the distance.

"LET THERE BE LIGHT"

Mighty wind blows past them in a thunderous roar of sound. Brilliant LIGHT explodes in an extravaganza of colors, purple, blue, red, yellow, orange. They are blown back as the beauty of newly created light engulfs their presence. The wide-eyed female catches a glowing beam.

"Hurry close the lid," the bookkeeper flies out to grab his lost book.

The bag holder straightens his hair and places the two containers in his bag, it begins to glow and rumble.

"That's it, lets go." They zoom toward the future and the city suspended in the sky. They approach a building within its walls. It's a huge building with round edges made of peach marble with a gold flecks. It stretches five miles long and high. Emblazoned across the front in glitter diamonds reads, "The Museum of Life."

The three enter from a side terrace, many excited angels and humans greet them, "Do you have it?"

"Yes, we have it all," remarks the bag holder. He takes out Noah's dove, John the Baptist's sandals and lays them carefully on the counter. Next comes Esther's jar of cream, then David's harp. Next, the very first thing Jesus' made as a carpenter, a small wooden chair.

The group marvels at the items. "You are so fortunate to be allowed to help gather these things. What a reward," one of the people say to the female collector.

"Do you have the 'Star Bottle?'" a large angel in the most intricately designed outfit anyone has ever seen, every detail, every stitch perfect, "and the recorder?"

"Yes, yes, patience, please," the bag holder removes it from the bag, he hands them to the mighty angel.

The angel takes the bottle and looks around at the group, he makes a big grin, "Here we go." He removes the top. Thunder and lighting burst into the room, rainbows of glory permeate their presence.

Several angels run to the exhibit room entrance, wondering what is going on. "What do you have," asks one.

"Its a surprise," they all answer, hiding the bottle.

"Where are we going to put this?" the mighty angel asks, holding out the star.

"Or this?" a smaller one agrees, holding up the recorder.

"I know," the little female looks at her list. "The next and last item on the list will go well with them."

Let's put them in place, they all agree. They walk out the door past many of the collected exhibits. The table of the last supper, the rent temple veil, a coin from a fish's mouth, a large wooden cross with a glow of its own and an empty spot.

They hang the shining star container from the ceiling over the empty spot, then the recorder is placed nearby. Every time they push the button, thunder engulfs the room and the star glows so bright they can't see each other, they giggle.

They all nod their heads in agreement, "it looks good, we'll put the first light here."Now, off the three go looking for a manger and a little basket with a thatch of hay and swaddling clothes, traveling at warp speed, back to an evening when the sky held another bright star.
