The Collectors, Part 1

One member of the three-party group gingerly placed the newly retrieved item into his shoulder bag. It was precious. One of his companions took out a list and the other compared the next item with a coordinating book of dates and places.

"Okay," the bearer of the list points to the next selection. "We can wear the same clothes, so lets go."

The three ascend and fly into the air, lifting off the ground, they stand upright as if on an invisible plane. The colors of space around the three blur into straight lines that get increasingly thinner, then explode into a mass of light encircling their realm of travel. A black opening, in the center of their view pierces the light before them. As they slow, the tunnel of darkness gets smaller and the light expands to cover it. They come to a halt.

When they arrive, the figures of the other people at their destined stop, for an instant in time, stand frozen. The collectors arrange themselves and look around. The bag holder sees the object of their focus and points it out. The action begins again.

"Do you witness this to be the object we are searching for?" the bag holder nods to his two companions.

They look around and nod their heads. The list bearer reaches down and picks up a pair of sandals which she places in the bag. The bookkeeper makes a check mark at the appropriate spot.

"We have five more stops before we return with our items," the bag holder says, peeking at the list.

The list bearer runs her finger to the next object. "Lets see, a jar of cream seems to be next."

"Okay," the bookkeeper says, nodding his head yes, "lets go." They move through their tunnel of travel and appear in a bedroom chamber. They stand invisible before a beautiful woman. She rises from her dressing table chair and leaves the room.

The three materialize and witness to each other. That is the desired item. The female list bearer walks over to the table a holds up a jar of cream. She smiles and smells the contents. "Pretty." She looks around, then moves to a rack of luxurious garments feeling the fabric.

Her two male companions smile, "Come dear, we must go. What's next?"

"Oh," she looks at the list, "A chair and then a harp, then... it just says 'light and sound'."

They fly quickly to the next destination, an old village shop, picking up a small chair, which they place on their invisible travel disk. They then travel to a great room where they gather a lone harp standing in a corner, each time witnessing to each other, indicating they have the particular article in question.

"Now for the sound," the female gives the two males a puzzled look.

They give each other a knowing glance. "Yes," the bag holder reaches into his large sack and retrieves a large glass bottle and a recording device. "Take this," he hands her the bottle.

It was the most exquisite star-shaped, carved bottle she had ever seen, and huge. She takes it, "What will we do with this."

"Well," the bookkeeper begins, "You know how sound and light waves work, right? You know they never disappear, they just go on and on?"

"Yes, I guess I know," the female inspects the bottle and recorder.

"We're going to catch something," the bag holder gives her a wink, "You're in for a treat."
