FreedomI'm thinking about Marty a lot as well. Marty is a former member of a South Dakota youth group, now serving his country in a foreign land against forces he probably never imagined. His entire way of life has now changed to serve us. He is willing to give his life for us! For what we have always had here in this country. Freedom! I can't help but wonder at all the things that our military personnel have given up to go fight for our freedom, like leaving their families and their children. Each and every one of them has gone to fight a horrible enemy. They are facing unknown hardships, harsh conditions, people that want to destroy them simply because they are American. Our troops don't even know us. They've never met most of us. Yet, they are fighting a war for us. How can we ever express our gratitude and thanks for what they are doing? I am overcome with emotions as I think about what they are doing on a daily basis. Jesus Christ knew us. He knew each and every one of us. Jesus knew the number of hairs on our heads. He willingly went up against a horrible enemy. Up on a cross, and He won a war with eternal results. For us! We can't even imagine what Jesus gave up. We will never fully understand the harshness of His sacrifice. People wanted to destroy Him because He said He is the Living God, but they didn't understand that He really is. Jesus came to serve us. He continued serving us as He hung on the cross. He did give His life for us. Jesus gave us eternal freedom! As we watch reports of our countrymen and women going to fight for us, let us not forget, Christ also battled for us and won. He is with our troops as they fight for our freedom. Godspeed to our troops!
