October 11, 2001It was one month to the day after the horrendous twin towers attacks, andwe had plane reservationsto fly to San Antone, Texas. Being an anxiousflyer to begin with,I was not in favor - at all- about this flight.Ourchildren were apprehensive about it also. "Call us as soon as you arrive",our youngest daughter said. "We want to hear from you right away," said theolder one. My husband didn't share our anxiety, and was not interested in drivingthe 14 hours needed to make the trip, so we packed our bags and headed forthe Atlanta airport. Once seated on the plane I was going through some notes I had made from aCharles Swindoll book where he paraphrased Paul in2 Timothy 4:7,8in the Bible. Hesaid, "the best is yet to come. God has blessed me with His glorious gospel inmy life, and He waits to crown faithful service after my death. What aglorious hope is mine!" Well, that was reassuring in case the plane was togo down, but then I saw some additional notes that reminded me what was void inheaven. There will be no arguments, suffering, disabilities, handicaps, brokenness, losses, tears or tragedies there. Not so bad hmmm. Also, theseold bodies will be changed from physical to glorious heavenly bodies(1 Corinthians49). That will really be nice! Next I began to think of who was there how Icould have so many of my questions answered, and the glory I would behold. Itwas then I received the "peace that passes understanding" about thisparticular flight. If Jimmie and I were to go to heaven this day, it would bethe BEST trip we ever took!
