Portable Dumpster

I suppose all dumpsters are portable, but I had never given it much thought. That is, until the time one was unloadedonto our front driveway. In our never-ending renovation of the house, the roof was the next item to be replaced. It had served us well for 18 years, but time had taken its toll, and leaks were beginning to happen. The roofers, shingles and dumpster all arrived on the same day, and the work began. The men tore off old shingles galore, and every so often they would place them in the dumpster. Every day the loaded dumpster was removed and replaced with an empty one.

The many pounds of roof trash were not too different from the trash we can become weighed down with. Sometimes things are dumped on our lives, but other times, we produce the trash. We may have debris of troubles, health problems, sufferings, hunger, danger and fears. Has this ever happened to you? Into your emotional and spiritual dumpster go the difficulties - given to God - only to be pulled back out occasionally and mulled over once again.

The problem is, we don't allow God to remove and replace the dumpster from our heart's front yard. Our difficulties stay in the forefront of our mind, or perhaps even in our subconscious. Nevertheless, we must give God the debris - and thank Him for being with us through the difficult times. God can take our bad situation and make something good come out of themŠ difficulties can have their value, for the Bible tells us in Romans 8:35-37 "In ALL these things we have full victory through God."

So if the dumpster of you life gets too full, remember to ask God to empty it for you, filling it - and you- with renewed promise.
